Credentials & Areas of Expertise:
I am a systemically-trained Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of clinical experience. I have a Masters degree in Couple & Family Therapy from Drexel University (formerly MCP Hahnemann University) and a Doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. I served as faculty in Drexel University's Department of Couple & Family Therapy for nearly 10 years, where I taught both clinical and research courses in the masters and doctoral programs. I also helped open the Institute for Sex Therapy at Council for Relationships in Philadelphia, where I worked for 8 years. I specialize in: Couple Therapy, Sex Therapy, Infidelity, Trauma (including training in EMDR and Tapping), Therapy for Therapists, Gender & Sexuality Issues, Women's Issues, Sexual Identity/LGBTQ issues, Communication Issues/Conflict-Resolution, Issues related to Spirituality, along with Multiculturalism and Diversity issues. I view individuals holistically, approaching clients from a strengths-based perspective on their personal path of discovery and often utilize various modalities of Energy Psychology, such as tapping.
In addition to being a psychotherapist, I also am a Reiki Master and work with people's subtle energetic systems, helping clear out blockages of energy that may keep individuals stuck in their lives and in their relationships. Reiki sessions are separate from therapy sessions and can serve as an effective treatment by itself, or also as an effective complement to therapy, often accelerating the process of transformation.
I have had many television appearances as a clinical expert, including being a repeated guest on The Today Show (NBC), was featured as an expert in two seasons on the reality show, Surviving Motherhood (TLC), provided weekly relationship tips for 2 years on Your Morning (CN8), and did repeated episodes of It's Your Call (CN8), among many other local news segments on NBC, CBS, and Fox. I am frequently interviewed for expert opinions in many popular media outlets today, including magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Men's Health, O's Home magazine, along with professional articles in numerous academic journals. I am a regular conference presenter and have made many national presentations on various topics that I have researched and published.

I believe that every person is a perfect divine creation of exactly who s/he is supposed to be; however, this perfection is often forgotten and buried from painful life experiences. I see entering therapy as sacred work, designed to help one remember and reclaim all of one's perfection; this often involves identifying and healing lost parts of oneself, in effort to transform and become whole. I view family, romantic, and other significant relationships within our lives as gifts and noble friends, even when they are difficult and tumultuous, as they serve as our biggest vehicles for growth. By allowing a non-resistant lens for "negative" people and circumstances, a person can learn to see the feedback as a mirror, reflecting areas still in need of healing and growth. I consider it a genuine privilege to work with people along their journeys in finding inner and relational healing, growth and transformation...
